Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Sondons collects and how we use it. Sondons operates the service. For how the product works generally, see our Terms of Service.
What we collect
- Account data: email, display name, password (hashed) or Google account link, country, optional profile picture, notification, language, and AI provider preferences, and optional two-factor authentication enrollment (TOTP secret and backup codes, stored securely). Individuals also provide first name, last name, gender, and birth date. If you subscribe to Pro, we store billing identifiers and subscription status from Stripe (not full card numbers).
- Poll and quiz content you create, answers and draft progress, ratings, prize and lottery records (including claims), in-app notifications related to your activity, and — when you use the AI poll builder — prompts, chat history, and draft snapshots you send for generation.
- Technical data needed to run the service: authentication session cookies; a guest session cookie (sondons_anon_session) for anonymous answering and draft progress; a locale preference cookie; and a short-lived helper cookie during Google registration. We do not use third-party analytics cookies today.
Why we use it
- Authenticate you, verify email, reset passwords, and support optional two-factor authentication.
- Run polls and quizzes, results, one response per person, prize draws, and winner contact sharing with creators for fulfillment.
- Provide Pro entitlements and billing (limits, demographics, advanced results filters, AI poll builder).
- Send in-app notifications always; send email for account security (verification, password reset, welcome) always; send lottery emails (prize won, winners drawn) only when you opt in.
- Show public profiles, leaderboards, and a Pro badge when you are subscribed or on trial; keep the service secure and reliable.
Who can see what
- Public: display name, public profile stats, open/past public polls you created, leaderboard rankings, Pro badge when applicable, and after a draw — winner display names and claim/delivery status.
- Poll creators: aggregate results; individual responses when browsing (names and demographics may be hidden if the poll anonymizes answers). Pro creators may see respondent demographics and use advanced filters when allowed. For draw winners — legal name and email for delivery.
- AI poll-builder drafts stay with the creator until they save or publish; Sondons never auto-publishes AI output.
- First and last names are not shown on public profiles, leaderboards, or the public winners list. Email is never public.
Service providers
We use these providers to run Sondons. They process data only as needed for their services:
- Vercel — hosting and image storage (Blob).
- Neon — PostgreSQL database.
- Resend — transactional email.
- Stripe — Pro billing and payments.
- Google — optional sign-in for individuals.
- xAI — AI poll builder for Pro creators (when selected in Preferences).
- OpenAI — AI poll builder for Pro creators (when selected in Preferences).
AI poll builder
Pro creators can draft polls or quizzes with AI. You choose the provider (xAI or OpenAI) in Settings → Preferences. When you use the builder, we send your prompt, optional chat history, and the current draft (title, description, questions) to the provider you selected. We do not send account personal data (such as your name or email) with that request. Output is AI-generated for your review and never auto-saves or auto-publishes.
Children
Sondons is for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly offer the service to anyone under 16.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and poll data while your account is active and as needed to operate draws, claims, and legal obligations. To request account deletion or data removal, contact us via About us. You can update profile, preferences, and billing in Settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us via About us to exercise these rights. You can update much of your profile information in Settings.
